The Niger Delta Grassroots Coalition, NDGC, has rubbished the allegation of tribal bias against the current Executive Vice President Upstream of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan by one Niger Delta for Truth and Justices, NDTJ, saying contracts awarded by NNPCL are not based on ethnicity or tribe, but due process.
The NDTJ, in a publication being circulated in print and electronics media, had accused Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, of being the brain behind “the deal to increase the scope of job to be awarded to Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, PINL” by the NNPCL.
NDGC, in a swift reaction to the allegation against Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, noted: “We wish to put it on record that that Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, PINL, was awarded her Surveillance contract through a rigorous due process under an Ijaw man who happens to be the immediate past Executive Vice President Upstream NNPCL, Engr. Adokiye Tombomieye, after meeting all criteria set out for the award of the job at the same time other companies like Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, were awarded theirs.”
The NDGC statement, which was signed by its Coordinator, Prince Edema Collins Oritsetimeyin and Publicity Secretary/Spokesman, Franklin Eyikimi, added inter-alia: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication being circulated in both print and electronics media by a senile group with the Name Niger Delta for Truth and Justices (NDTJ) where it not only wrongly accused the current Executive Vice President Upstream of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) of ethnic biased, but went further to blackmail her person and our Revered Monarch His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR , the Olu of Warri.
“Ordinarily, we would have turned a blind eye to this group of ineptitude personae but for "Truth and Justice" which they claim to represent we which to set the records straight.
“The Niger Delta for Truth and Justices (NDTJ) did not allege or see ethnic bias then for a surveillance contract to be awarded to an Ijaw Man or different companies belonging to Ijaw people under an Ijaw man as EVP Upstream but can say that now because it concerns an Itsekiri Person.
“It is a shame that instead of this group of scanvengers and hustlers that claim to stand for Truth and Justice to engage in meaningful business or subject themselves to same rigorous process that led to the award of Surveillance Contract to Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (since they so desire the contract), they want to use blackmail and ethnic bias to get the contract through the backdoor.
“The current Executive Vice President Upstream of the NNPCL - Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan has risen to where she is today through her dent of hard work, brilliance, and unparallel professional conduct that has spanned over 30 years of both private and public works. Her career in NNPCL has been nothing short of Excellent, and will not be cowed by a group of people who are not conversant with the operational process of the NNPCL.
“If one may ask; how does the due process of securing pipeline surveillance job relate to Warri Crisis?
“Another question that we may want to ask you is; whether it was through blackmail that the other companies contracts were awarded?
“We wish to put it on record that His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR the Olu of Warri is not a member of the Board of Directors of Pipeline Infrastructure neither is he’s one their Trustees.
“Our Revered Father, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR who happens to be one of the only three Natural Traditional Rulers in the South-South Region of Nigeria, has been a shining light of the Niger Delta and has spent the last two years since he ascended the throne of his forebears, radiating hope and peaceful coexistence amongst the different ethnic groups of the Niger Delta.
“While we understand that every Niger Deltan is a stakeholder in our God given wealth, using blackmail and ethnic bias as a tool to seek contract put a question mark on the educational qualifications and maybe upbringing of the authors of the publication.”
