Chief Ayirimi Emami takes IPYM’s leadership to Presidential Amnesty Boss over fate of 5,000 Itsekiri Students

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC and prominent voice of Itsekiri Nation, Chief Ayirimi Emami, on Tuesday January 30, took the leadership of Itsekiri Progressive Youth Movement, IPYM, to Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Maj. Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (Rtd.) in a bid to address the fate of about 5,000 students of Itsekiri extraction at Novena University, Amai in Delta State.

Fresh Angle International, understands that the meeting which lasted for over an hour, at the Office of the Special Adviser to Mr. President on PAP in Abuja, saw Chief Emami, introducing leadership of IPYM, led by the National Chairman, Jerry Atiene.

The Spokesman of Itsekiri Progressive Youth Movement, IPYM, Hon. Tuoyo Ebigbeyi, who thanked the SA to the President on PAP for the audience, bemoaned the situation where approximately 5,000 students of Itsekiri extraction in Novena University (some of whom have graduated) have no hope of collecting their certificates after graduation, “due to the anomalies of the recruitment process, which eventually led to their fees not being paid.”

Hon. Ebigbeyi, who is the current Majority Leader of Warri South Local Government Legislative Arm, appealed to Maj. Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (Rtd.) to consider Itsekiris for the new application for scholarship in the 2024-2025 academic session.  

The Chairman, of IPYM Mr. Jerry Atiene, had earlier thanked President Tinubu for his faith in the Amnesty Boss, describing him as a square peg in a square hole.

Maj. Gen. Ndiomu (Rtd.) in his response, commended Chief Ayirimi Emami, “for having the pains of his people and introducing the delegation of IPYM to his Office”, promising to quickly address the plight of the affected Itsekiti students.

This Newspaper, can report that a 5-man committee was immediately set up by the Amnesty Boss, to liaise with the management of Novena University, with a view to address the sufferings of Itsekiri students in the institution.
