A vibrant PDP youth leader in Warri and current Supervisor for Environment in Warri South Local Government Council, Mr. Omawumi Elete, has appealed to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to disregard what he described as a mischievous publication by the UPU Youth Wing Worldwide, led by the President of Urhobo Youths Leaders Association, Olorogun Samuel Oghotomo.
Elete, in a statement released in Warri, Thursday February 1, opined that the purported open letter addressed to Governor Oborevwori and published on page 8 of The Pointer Newspaper of Wednesday January 31, with the imprimatur of Olorogun Samuel Oghotomo, Ughere Oghenero Blessed, Omiragua Ogheneji Oghenegweke and Olorogun Augustine O. Atiti, " was a classical example of strangers, playing the role of fifth columnists, with the intent of causing fresh ethnic crisis in Warri, which would stall the progressive governance of Governor Oborevwori."
According to Elete, destruction of the controversial sign post at UPU House ( Popular known as Urhobo Cultural Centre ) at 18 Okere Road Warri, by security agencies, was consequent upon resolutions reached after emergency security meetings held in Warri Sunday and Monday January 28 and 29 respectively.
Mr. Omawumi Elete
He noted that the security meeting held Monday January 29 at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat, Warri, wherein it was agreed that mounting of billboards must get the authorization of government and trouble makers, should be dealt with, was attended by the members representing Warri South Constituencies 1 and 2 , Hon. Augustine Uroye and Hon. Benson Obire respectively, Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, prominent leaders of Agbarha - Warri, including the President - General, Chief Emmanuel O. Ememu, leaders from neighbouring Okere Community as well as appointees of the state governor from both Okere and Okere - Urhobo, Warri.
"Where were the stranger - elements that signed the troublemaking open letter addressed to Governor Oborevwori, when the President - General of Agbarha - Warri, Chief Emmanuel O. Ememu, on Saturday April 16, 2022, openly told the world at Ogwan Re Ukutemi Obelikpeyah Akporue, along Warri - Sapele Road, Warri, that Dr. Michael Tidi, is a member of the Ukutemi Obelikpeyah Family of Ukpokiti/ Igbudu Communities of Agbarha - Warri? Chief Ememu boldly declared on the said date that Agbarha will not say one of their own, should go, because of politics.
" It is obvious that Olorogun Samuel Oghotomo, self - styled Activist Ughere Oghenero Blessed and their co - travellers, are also not aware that the Secretary - General of Obelikpeyah Family, Chief Julius Kpesu, had in his welcome address during the grand reception held in honour of Dr. Tidi on same April 16,2022, said ' No time, is too late to acknowledge a worthy son, Dr. Tidi, we want to say we're proud to associate ourselves with your ( Dr. Tidi) giant strides in governance and human capital development'. "
It is therefore mischievous for a group of ill - informed set of youths, who neither live in Warri, have biological link with Warri South Local Government Area or know about the Godly - designed biological relationship Dr. Michael Tidi, has across the different interests in Warri South, to distract our development - driven governor with needles propaganda, targeted at bringing down the rising proactive leadership quality of Dr. Tidi," Elete, emphasized.
