Reportedly founded over 500 years ago, Oka Akoko in Akoko South - West Local Government Area of Ondo state, South - West Nigeria, is home to Oke Maria.
Oka Akoko is the second largest city in Akokoland, with a population of 132,800 people. It is made up of 5 distinct settlements of Ayegunle-Oka, Oke-Oka, Iwaro-Oka, Okia-Oka and Isimerin-Oka.
The ancient town, which is an hour - drive from Akure, Ondo state capital, is notable for the Oke-Maria Catholic Grotto, a popular tourist site.
The traditional head of the community is called, Olubaka of Oka land.
