Catholic Church partners National Directorate of Employment

As part of the effort to empower our Parishioners, Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Ketu in conjunction with the National Directorate of Employment, NDE on recently flagged- off a three months integrated empowerment/ skill acquisition programme in the parish.

At the opening ceremony which had over one hundred fifty participants in attendance, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ngene advised the participants to take this golden opportunity seriously as God is capable of blessing them with a stable means of livelihood through the acquired skill. He added that the Parish decided to organize the programme now that the nation is facing serious recession and people are losing their jobs in droves and promised to make the programme a continuous one.

In the same vein, the State Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment, NDE Mr. Ologbenla Adebowale, told the participant that the exercise is a life changing one and that National Directorate of Employment, NDE is ready to give them the best adding that it is what they have been doing for the past thirty years. He admonished the participants to be law abiding, good ambassadors and shining star in the society.

The training will focus on areas such as: Computer programming, GSM repairs, Event Management, Catering as well as Hair Dressing and Make-up. The elated participants thanked the Parish Priest and the entire church community for this wonderful opportunity given to them promising to make effective use of it.

In a related development, the church is Organizing a six weekend Entrepreneurial Development Scheme for the young graduates, the unemployed/underemployed as well as those that are working but needs entrepreneurial knowledge to aid their disengagement. The programme will be anchored by experienced and successful business men and women as well as those in the academia said the Parish Priest.
