Alleged Threat to Life: Institute independent investigation to activate my earlier petition to the AIG Zone 5, Esieghuya writes IGP

A businessman resident in Ubeji, Warri, Delta State, Mr. Samuel Esiegbuya, has written the Inspector General of Police, IGP, appealing to him to compel the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, to treat a case of alleged threat to life and breach of duty, levelled against one Mr. Omotowa Seyi, the Managing Director of NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited or set up an independent investigation team, to conduct the pending investigation to ensure that justice is served.

In the petition dated February 29 and made available to Fresh Angle International, today, Wednesday March 6, Esiegbuya, noted inter-alia: “I write to draw your attention to the aforementioned subject matter pending before the AIG, zone 5 Headquarters Benin City, Edo State without continued investigation.

“In exact term, October 3rd 2023, I lodged a formal complaint before the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City with respect to the above mentioned subject matter.

“However, after the petition was received by the Authority approved and assigned to the Administrative Unit of the same Zonal Command for investigation of the said complaint, I was thereafter called upon by the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in charge to report in order for a statement to be obtained from me under caution and I reported accordingly at the Command in line with the call and statement was actually taken from me by the Police Officer, after which to the best of my knowledge a letter of Police invitation was extended to the suspect in person of Mr. Omotowa Seyi of NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited as in term with the Police rules of engagement.

“Notwithstanding, I am surprised and perturbing that prior to the invitation letter forwarded to the suspect, Mr. Omotowa  was brazenly dishonored and neglected by him and also undermining the constitutional powers given to the Police to investigate perceived crime related offenses such as in this instance case without fear or favor of any kind and taking into account the gravity, veracity and uncontestable evidences adduced in the circumstances of the said matter before the Police yet nothing is seen to be done in the interest of peace and equitability as it where to savage and or remedied the impending crisis or chaos.

“To this end and with all modesty Sir, it turned out that the suspect in question, Mr. Omotowa Seyi has been acting as if he is above the law by not honoring the Police invitation extended to him since the month of November, 2023 till date and not only that the suspect failed in that contrast, but also I doubt and not convinced that the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) is willing or determined to do the case from the outlook and disposition  forgetting that the primary duty of the Police Force is the security of lives and properties which is the basis of the subject matter under review or supposed investigation and I am using this platform to appeal to your reputable office to kindly prevail and or compel the said Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 5 Headquarters or alternatively set up an independent investigation team to conduct the pending investigation without further ado and with expeditious action to ensure that justice in this regards is served.”
