Apart from the performance of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as governor which has come under intense criticism in recent times, his speculated senatorial ambition in 2015 may hit the rock following the premature divorce of his political romance with Ijaw National leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
Indications of the fractured relationship between the duo emerged Friday August 24 at Asaba ,the Delta State capital when Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in concert with the maverick State PDP Chairman, Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi went ahead to swear in local government chapter chairmen of the party against the wish of Chief Edwin Clark .
Days to the controversial swearing-in, gist filtered into town that the much talked about harmonization of the party executive to accommodate members of the Clark’s faction from state to local government level would see the light of day, but the sudden twist by Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan to retain the old exco at the local government level, particularly after telling the whole world that he had made up with the Ijaw National leader shocked Chief Clark’s faithful.
After failing to stop the controversial State PDP Chairman , Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi through a court injunction from swearing in the old PDP local government chairmen, there are indications that the Ijaw National leader is working on the National executive of the party to frustrate Governor Emmanuel Uduagan’s dominance of the party in the state. A move which political pundits are saying will once again hit up the political atmosphere in the state as well as frustrate Dr.Emmanuel Uduaghan’s rumoured senatorial ambition come 2015.
Another factor likely to work against Dr. Uduaghan’s senatorial bid in 2015 is the similar interest being shown in the same plum job by a serving commissioner and leader of the party in Warri(name withheld).
Fresh Angle gathered from close sources that the commissioner who has some level of control of the party structure in Warri area is eyeing the Delta South Senatorial seat in 2015 following gist that the position which is currently being occupied for the third time by Senator James Manager may be zoned to the Itsekiri ethnic nationality.
