The National Leader of the Warri Urhobos in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief (Prof.) Israel Abido, says former member of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, will give him a strong push to enable the Urhobos of Warri, achieve their set political goals.

 

Our Correspondents, report that Chief Israel Abido, made the declaration Sunday April 21 at his private residence in Ekpan via Warri, when the Warri Urhobos in PDP, endorsed Chief Opuoru as their Deputy National Leader.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chief Abido, who described the occasion as memorable, stated: “We will continue to promote those who will be listening to us, we will compile a list of persons to be forwarded to the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for appointment.”

 

The immediate past Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Chief (Mrs.) Divine Ann Iniovosa, who also addressed the large gathering of Okere-Urhobo and Agbarha indigenes during the ceremony, said, “today is like Christmas for us. It wasn’t easy for us to elect Hon. Opuoru, God’s choice and a man of the people”.

Deputy Chairman of PDP in Warri South Local Government, Hon. Marvis Onojohwo, a prominent PDP Woman Leader of Agbarha-Warri, Chief Victoria Mowoe, the immediate past Deputy Chief Whip of Warri South Legislative Arm, Chief Eghere Totor and a former Councilor in Warri South, Chief Richard Okoro, were among PDP Chieftains that spoke in support of Hon. Opuoru’s Deputy leadership of Warri Urhobos in PDP, after Hon. Ejiro Okumagba moved the motion for the classification of Hon. Opuoru and was seconded by Hon. Stanley Onoriode.

 

Shortly after he was administered the Oath by Barr. Lord, Hon. Opuoru, asserted: “This is a new chapter for our party, we are together, those that are not here, should come and join the moving train.

 

“It is time for those who have worked for PDP to reap the benefits. We will compile the names of our members to be submitted to the governor for appointment.

 

 

“I accept this position as the National Deputy Leader of Urhobos in Warri PDP and I am ready to work as a supporting tool to our National Leader (Prof. Israel Abido) to achieve the objectives and goals of our great party.”

 

The Director, Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, Chief Stanley Agbosa, two-time Supervisor for Education in Warri South Local Government Council, Chief Linda Eya Ikpuri and Chief Isaac Emifuniye, were among PDP leaders from Agbarha-Warri and Okere-Urhobo, present during the colourful ceremony.
