IYC Scores Olu of Warri high on execution of Pipeline Surveillance Contract

The President of Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Dr. Alaye Theophilus, has reportedly scored the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, high, “for contributing massively towards curbing the menace of pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.”

Dr. Alaye Theophilus, who gave the commendation on behalf of Ijaw Youth Council, while reacting to statements credited to the Niger Delta Stakeholders Forum (NDSF) debunked allegations that Pipelines Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, reportedly owned by the Warri Monarch, was not handling the pipeline surveillance job in its coverage area very well.

According to Dr. Theophilus, Pipelines Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, has over the years, shown diligence and professionalism in the conduct of its job in the region, saying the Olu of Warri, “is a true son of the Niger Delta.”

In a statement made available to newsmen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, yesterday, the IYC President, averred: “It was not the pipeline contract handled by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III that was terminated”, wondering why the NDSF accused the Warri Monarch of masterminding the Lagos protest against Tantita.

While stating that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase III is not at daggers drawn with Tompolo, Dr. Theophilus, explained: “Each of them (The Olu of Warri and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo Aka Tompolo) has their areas of coverage, spelt out by the federal government, with their modus operandi to secure the pipelines.”

The Ijaw Youth Council President, described the Olu of Warri as a well-educated man, respected by not only the Itsekiris, but the Ijaws, Urhobos, other tribes in Delta State, the entire Niger Delta and the country at large.

He advised persons aggrieved with the Olu’s emergence as King of the famous Warri traditional stool, “not to use what happened in Lagos to cast aspersions on the Monarch, but to have a rethink of their misguided actions.”

Dr. Alaye Theophilus, opined that the purported statements from Julius Daukoru, Dr. Godwin Ebosa, Chief Ayirimi Emami, Fidelis Lori, Coordinator Obodo, Opuamami Cluster, Engr Samson Uwatse, Coordinator Tantita Ugbodede Unit, doubting the veracity of the protesters as Itsekiri indigenes, “is an eloquent testimony of the fact that Olu of Warri, has no business with the ragtag protesters.”

The IYC President, stated unequivocally that the Trans- Forcados Pipeline Surveillance Contract, was not handled by Pipelines Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, hence the company “did not suffer any loss at termination of the contract as alleged by the group and will not condescend to sponsor protest to attack Tantita Security Company owned by his brother, which he enjoys a cordial working relationship with and also contributing their quota to Nation building, particularly securing critical National assets in the Niger Delta.”

He advised: “Those still smattering from the enthronement of Ogiame Atuwase III as the Warri Monarch, should separate their personal ambition from the present reality on ground and accord same respect and commendation they are giving to others to the Warri Monarch, who is touching lives positively with his company.”
