Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Warri, Mr. Emiko Oghomienor, has commended the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC for what he described as the prompt release of timetable for the forthcoming local government council election in Delta state.
DSIEC, had in a statement released this morning, Friday May 3,' through its Chairman, Dr. R.J. A Agbaike, fixed Saturday July 13 for the local government election, giving political parties May 6 to May 26, to conduct primaries with a view to electing their chairmanship and councillorship candidates.
Mr. Oghomienor, who is strong contender for the Warri South Chairmanship seat in the impending poll, while responding to the announcement by DSIEC, opined that the detailed timetable released by the Commission, will give political parties and aspirants enough time to engage the electorates in voter - education and campaigns.
He expressed optimism that DSIEC, in - line with the assurance of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori , would provide level playing ground for political parties and aspirants, in the build - up to the July 13 election.
