We Will Critically Prosecute Defendants In Your Case, Attorney General Tells Obi Of Ogwashi-Uku

Attorney General Of Delta State Assures Obi Of Ogwashi-Uku Of Diligent Prosecution Of Otulu Ogwashi-Uku Defendants

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Delta State, Prince Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, has assured the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, H.R.M Obi (Dr) Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, of the steadfast pursuit of justice in the ongoing criminal legal proceedings against the defendants from Otulu Ogwashi-Uku.

Responding to a letter from the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku to His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, requesting the diligent handling of the cases without external influence, the Attorney General reaffirmed the commitment to uphold the rule of law and diligent prosecution of the suspects/defendants.

The Obi's concerns stemmed from reports within the Otulu community indicating efforts by the defendants to leverage local political connections for case withdrawal, based on an already discredited notion of police reinvestigation.

The Obi reminded the Attorney General of a prior rejection of a reinvestigation request by the former Attorney General, Isiah Bozimo SAN, who insisted on allowing the courts to determine the case outcomes.

Despite this, the defendants, through their legal representative, attempted to revive the previously rejected request upon the new Attorney General's appointment.

In response to the Attorney General's assurance confirming the diligent prosecution of the defendants, the Palace Secretary, Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, expressed satisfaction, emphasizing the importance of justice in these criminal cases.

The defendants face charges ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and attempted murder, among other offenses. Emordi stressed the community's stance on ensuring justice for the victims and preventing any undue influence that could compromise legal proceedings.

The defendants, including Monday Oseji, Christopher Isikekpe, Christopher Odiakose, Josiah Ajah (aka Jossey), and Samson Eleme (aka "One Eye"), were implicated in various criminal acts, including an attack on the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku and his entourage during a visit to Otulu Ogwashi-Uku in 2021.

Their apprehension has contributed to a relative peace in the Otulu Ogwashi community, with the defendants currently held at the Federal Correctional Center in Ogwashi-Uku, awaiting trial.
