Warri South: Urban Renewal, Agricultural development, strengthening of SMEs, highlight Oribioye’s manifesto as he officially declares Chairmanship ambition

The strategic plan to fast-track the urban renewal of Warri, ignite Agricultural development and financially strengthen Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, in-line with the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s M O R E Agenda, highlighted the manifesto of Mr. Joseph Uwale Oribioye, who is running for the Warri South Chairmanship seat, ahead of the July 13 Delta State Local Government election.

Fresh Angle International, understands that this much was unveiled today, Friday May 10, when Mr. Oribioye, officially declared his chairmanship ambition before the leadership of PDP in Warri South Local Government Area, at the party secretariat in Warri.

Mr. Oribioye, the immediate past Secretary to Warri South Local Government Area, mentioned social welfare scheme for the aged and vulnerable, beginning with 5 persons per DSIEC Ward as well as the upgrading of infrastructures at the major markets in Warri South and provision of social amenities to make traders and customers comfortable while transacting business, as critical areas that would be adequately addressed, if given the mandate for the Warri South plum job.

The former two-time Warri South Council Scribe, who led key members of Joseph Oribioye Network on the consultative visit to the PDP leadership, promised to reconstruct more health centres, sustain the constant provision of drugs and consumables to the health centres and engage youths in the council area on skill acquisition, in fields such as computer science, welding, carpentry, hairdressing, tailoring and catering.

Whilst promising to construct modern abattoir, for the purpose of hygiene and safety of the animal produce consumed in Warri South Local Government Area, the Warri South Chairmanship hopeful, noted: “We will build on the already laid down programmes by the previous administration and formulate policies guaranteeing the upliftment of the socio-economic status of the people of Warri South Local Government Area. 

“We shall focus on the advancement of education in all ramification, by way of Infrastructure, School support system will be put in place, scholarships for indigent pupils and students, the welfare of the teachers and the learners, training and retraining of teachers. By this arrangement, we shall ensure provision of the 22% requirement of our yearly budget for education. 

“We will sustain the cleaning, de-weeding, desilting of the environment by engaging more street sweepers, rejig the PSP arrangement where the LGA can benefit more, our canals, drainages and construction of new ones to ease the flow of flood in identified areas and we will continue our collaboration with the Warri/Uvwie Urban Renewable Agency to attract more development to the LGA. 

“We will sustain operation no potholes on our roads, we will have LGA roads maintenance unit, under the department of works. We will endeavour to liaise with the state government for roads to be constructed/ rehabilitated in the LGA. 

“The council already has a formidable security architecture that guarantees peace and security, it will be sustained by our administration if elected, by way of provision of more patrol vehicles, logistics, communication gadgets and improved intelligence gathering mechanism through partnership with the LGA, leaders and elders of the communities. We will continue discussing with relevant stakeholders on how to light up the city. And boost confidence of tourist and other business operators in and around Warri metropolis. 

“Hospitality sector is very key and dear to our hearts, it will gain prominence in the scheme of things. 

“Welfare of workers within the LGA setting and those outside the LGA will be protected. 

“Provision of more Potable Drinking Water Scheme will be sustained across the Wards.

“The protection of the girl child and the welfare of women in Warri South LGA shall be given its pride of place in our administration. 

“We will adopt the M.O.R.E. agenda and implement same in our LGA if given the opportunity to serve.”

The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Warri South Local Government Area, Mr. Johnson Agbeyegbe, in his response, reportedly recalled the consistent loyalty and service of Mr. Oribioye to the party, noting that Mr. Oribioye, had never left the PDP since inception.

Other members of the Warri South PDP executive as well as some ward leaders of the party, were at the PDP LGA Secretariat when Mr. Oribioye and members of Joseph Oribioye Network, visited.
