Our victory, not for vain glory - Ashima declared, after emerging Chairman - elect, Warri North

Chairmanship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Warri North Local Government Area, Hon. Festus Ashima, who has been declared Chairman - elect of Warri North Local Government Area, says: "Our victory , is not for vain glory."                                                

The Warri North Chairman - elect, in a statement issued through Lucky Atu today, Sunday July 14, assured that his election as Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, will usher in an era of manifest destiny in the council area.                                     

He asserted: "Our victory is not for vain glory, but for dedicated service to the people of Warri North.         

"We will continue to promote peaceful and harmonious coexistence in order to create an environment conducive to progress and development in Warri North." 

He maintained that his administration will be sensitive to the yearnings and groaning of the govern, adding that he will shore up the democratic gains of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori 's MORE agenda towards building strong and virile institutions that will provide a secured future for everyone. 

Hon. Ashima, thanked the people of Warri North Local Government for electing him as their Chairman, promising that government would be brought closer to those who needed it the most, through health care delivery, infrastructure development, and human capital development.

He promised to keep his campaign promises of ensuring unity of purpose, peace and security across the Council as well as create jobs through skill acquisition. "Unemployment is caused by skill shortages. Many youth are unemployed, due to lack of vocational skills that aligne with industrial requirements. We will bridge the gap, by providing Warri North Youths with relevant skills that will align them with industrial requirements in our council," he said. 

The Chairman - Elect, who also extended olive branch to members of the opposition, emphasised that the PDP umbrella is large enough to accommodate their collective interests, and that whatever their political interests are, saying such interests can be better met under the PDP umbrella.     

"The elections are over, and we have no reason to harbour ill-feelings and animosity towards one another, if we are truly concerned about the development of Warri North. Only one person is destined to win any contest at any given time. 

"This mandate is a sacred trust between God, the people, and us. We pray to God to help us uphold the mandate to the commendation of the people and the glory of God." the statement added.
