The Delta State Government, on Thursday August 15, flagged off the construction of two ultra-modern abattoirs and cold-room projects to be executed by Warri South Local Government Council at Pessu Market, Warri, just as the Group Chairman of DEL TRAZI Limited, Hon. (Engr.) Chukwuma Charles Ezeani, expressed his company’s desire to invest in an ambitious expansion project in the market.

Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Hon. Samuel Oligida, who performed the foundation stone laying ceremony at Pessu Market, Warri, after introducing the Group Chairman of DEL TRAZI Limited, Hon. (Engr.) Chukwuma Charles Ezeani to the Warri South Local Government Chairman, Comr. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, stated: “I have brought investors who I believe has interest in development of markets. Either in development of a new market, or upgrading of existing ones. They paid a courtesy visit, made a presentation in my office and they made three choices; Asaba, Warri and Osubi. I listened to their presentation and I thought it will be a good thing, if I brought investors of their calibre to Warri.”

Engr. Chukwuma Charles Ezeani, in his brief presentation at the Office of the Chairman, Warri South Local Government Council, explained: “Del Trazi Limited is based in Abuja. We are investors in Real Estate. Having studied Nigeria, we are focused on investing in areas that capture the needs of the middle class and the downtrodden. We upgrade or develop markets to International standards, to help attract other investors to that area.

“As we grow up, you realise that most markets we grew up from, have remained the same since we were young. The people in the middle class and Lower class of society, make up a large percentage of citizens and can be referred to as the true Nigerians.

“When a government does not pay attention to this set of people, no matter the good intentions the government has, none of it would mean anything to them. Our markets are not improving because the environments are not bankable. Ours is to come into places with guaranteed returns to put up a design, in collaboration with you (The Chairman) and the Commissioner of Trade and Investments, that will guarantee a bankable environment. This is our dream and this is what we have done in many places.

“This is an area that I feel, even if we are not considered, your office (Office of the Chairman) should be able to focus on these areas. Part of what we do, while developing the markets, we train those who have the discipline. We key them into a mortgage system, so that by the time selling begins, those who cannot afford to buy whole, can take it into mortgages. Through our recommendation, they can apply and be able to purchase their items. We make sure that at least, 70% (minimum) of those who subscribe to this programme, are the real traders. Provision will be made for other stakeholders, including politicians and civil servants.”

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyiniro, who was apparently delighted with the proposal put forward by Engr.  Ezeani, said: “In-line with our MORE Grace Agenda, we set up an investment committee and very early this morning, the chairman of the committee was in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja for a meeting with some of our potential investors that we hope will help us to connect a rail-line between Warri Port and Aladja, in order to see how we can reduce the traffic going to Lagos on the basis of importation.

“Those investors believe that if they are able to make that connection, it will be easier and cheaper to move goods to the North from the Warri axis. Discussions have reached an advanced stage in that regard. Investment is key at this grassroots level. With how you have extensively broken down your agenda, we are confident that we will not limit ourselves to just building of markets.

“We will partner you in other areas of real estate and every other area you wish to work with us on. Our assurance to you is that we will see how we can create an enabling environment for all of that to happen.”
