The Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government, Hon Sylvester Oromoni, has called on youths in the Local Government to always embrace peace and work with other umbrella bodies and security agencies, in order to maintain peace in the Local Government Area.
The Chairman made the call at his office in Ogbe-Ijoh on Wednesday August 14, when the Ogbe-Ijoh branch of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) paid him a courtesy visit.
Our Warri South-West Bureau Chief, reports that Hon. Oromoni, said that his administration would give the youths the much-needed support.
He told the members of the IYC that he and his Udu counterpart are working tirelessly to ensure that there is lasting peace in the two Local Government Areas.
Recall that Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South-West and Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area have a long-standing dispute, and tensions between them have flared up on different occasions with each suffering huge losses.
Responding on behalf of the Chairman of the IYC, Ogbe-Ijoh branch, Comrade Moses Omare, the Secretary, Comrade Vincent Donye , commended the efforts of the Council Chairmen in promoting peace between the two communities and promised to maintain peace and work in unity to bring about lasting peace to the two Local Government Areas.
Highlight of the visit was presentation of gift and decoration of Hon Sylvester Oromoni as the number one Patron of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Ogbe-Ijoh branch.
