A Delta family is in deep mourning over the shock demise of their son, Dr. EdwardDede in the blast that rocked the UN headquarters Abuja Friday August 26, FreshAngle can exclusively report.

Acousin to the deceased who is an Health Officer working with Warri South LocalGovernment Council in Delta State, Mr. Joseph Ejueyitsi, Omereye who managed totalk to Fresh Angle in an exclusive chat at Warri South CouncilSecretariat in the early hours of Saturday August 27, stated that the deceased,Dr. Edward Dede who is in his 50s works in the London Office of World HealthOrganization.

Accordingto Joseph Ejueyitsi Omereye, late Dr. Edward Dede whose wife and two sons livein Benin City, Edo State had to abandon his private clinic called Ogbe Clinicbeside Urhobo College, Effurun in the wake of Warri Crisis to relocate toLondon where he secured the WHO job between 1998 and 1999.

Mr.Joseph Omereye who was still receiving distress calls from relatives during thechat with Fresh Angle, disclosed that the deceased only came to Abuja fora congress at the building when the blast occurred. According to him, they lastspoke a month ago when the deceased who they both lived together between 1963to1970 could not attend a family meeting due to pressing official engagement.Mr. Omereye who was on his way to Sapele to console the deceased’s sisterstated that the family received the sad news at about 11pm Friday August 26,adding that details of the incident was still sketchy as at press time.

Asat the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for theblast, but there are indications that it may not be unconnected with theNorthern Islamic sect, Boko Haram, which only suspended hostilities as a resultof the Muslim fasting period.
