Come up with well-developed plan to reduce impact of flood, Ughelli North Chairman, tasks committee

The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun (Barr) Jaro Movudu Egbo, has charged members of Ughelli North Flood Remediation and Control Committee, to come up with a well-developed plan that would help reduce the impact of flood in the local government, particularly the Evwreni, Enenurhie and Uwheru Axis.

Our Ughelli North Bureau Chief, reports that Olorogun Egbo, handed down the charge, Thursday September 19, at the Exco Chamber of the Council, while inaugurating the recently constituted Ughelli North Flood Remediation and Control Committee headed by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Chief (Mrs.) Meg Atano.

"The committee will play a very crucial role in developing strategies for flood prevention, management and response. The committee consist of community leaders/Environmental Experts, Health Workers, Administrators and dedicated volunteers, all committed to safeguarding our residents and infrastructure” the Council Boss, averred.

Olorogun Egbo, urged the Chairman of the Flood Control Committee, Chief (Mrs.) Meg Atano, and her team to partner with the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr Kingsley Emu, National Flood Management Council, NFMC and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to ensure that incident of flood in Ughelli North, is well managed as well as controlled and victims given adequate attention.

Responding, the Flood Control Committee Chairman, Chief (Mrs.) Meg Atano, thanked the Chairman for the privilege given to them to serve, promising that members of the committee will carry out the assignment to the best of their abilities and in the interest as well as progress of Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The Committee, which is headed by Chief Meg Atano; has Chief (Hon.) David Ebrunu as Secretary. Other members are; the Supervisor for Environment, Hon Lucky Oborayiruvbe; Member, Supervisor for Health, Hon. Akpotu Eyamu Edmund; Member, Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Mrs. Nancy Enakirerhi; Member, Barr Aghogho Omaminiovo, Member and Mrs. Betty Ibodje; Member.

The President-General of Uwheru Kingdom, Chief MacPherson Igbedi and President-General of Evwreni Kingdom and Chief Kenneth Ukpebitere, were in attendance during the inauguration.  

The Leader of the Ughelli North Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Ajero Prosper Okeoghene Kelly, Ughelli North PDP Chairman, Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro, Principal Secretary to the Chairman of Ughelli North, Olorogun Fidelis Erhiurhore, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Sir Prince Elvis Oharisi, Treasurer to the Local Government, Mrs. Mercy Morkah, HoD Works of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Engr. David Uwaniyi, PDP Chairman, Uwheru Ward, Chief Correct Ubiomo, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr. Efe Ekete and the Assistant Director of Information Ughelli North Local Government Council, Mrs. Anna Inana, attended the ceremony.
