Benin Princess Royal, Damarea Liao, according to reports, has become the first National Youth Poet Laureate for the swearing in of Prime Ministers and Ambassador in Japan as of this month.
Liao, 19, a current Literature education student in Japan, is expected in Hiroshima on Thursday to meet with Japan's president according to a spokesperson. Liao will also be the youngest present witness to the upcoming political conventions and events held by the president and Prime Minister..
Despite former conflict in The United States, Liao traveled back to Osaka last month to prepare for Miss Asia after resigning from her title of Miss Nigeria 2023. Shigeo Yamada, Japan's Ambassador to the United States says that he is "confident in her [Liao's] ability to carry out the responsibilities and expectations of the country."
Liao who was asked to speak during the memorial of legendary Actor, James Earl Jones, ['Coming to America'], was then asked to recite poetry for a church mass in Beijing, China this weekend.
'I have always written poetry as a reflection of my point of view of the world and the emotion behind living in it.", says Liao on a recent Instagram story on Monday. "Maybe it should be kept a secret that I'm scared to speak what has been kept on pen and paper for so long, to millions of people."
Liao who is Japanese and Nigerian, says that she felt a bit 'distant' from her Japanese culture before recently getting into touch with family who "reintroduced" her to it.
