Egbo Ensures Safe Distribution of Flood Relief to Support Community Well-being

In Ohoro in Uwheru, Ughelli North Local Government Area, the recent distribution of flood relief supplies, in partnership with the Bank of Industry, received strong support from the community. 

Youths and other residents gathered for the distribution of essential food supplies, including packs of noodles, groundnut oil, palm oil, garri, and beans. To ensure the safety and well-being of all present, the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Barr. Jaro Omovudu Egbo, proactively decided to redirect the palliatives to a secure location for orderly distribution.

Chairman Egbo explained that the initiative was organized to help ease the hardship faced by flood-affected communities. The supportive response from the community reflects a shared commitment to aid distribution and an interest in sustainable, long-term solutions to improve local conditions.

The community of Ohoro in Uwheru, along with others such as Evwreni in Ughelli North Local Government Area—which has a projected population of over 439,500—has faced repeated flooding. This initiative underscores the importance of meaningful support for the affected areas. 

Chairman Egbo remarked, “Ensuring the safe and organized distribution of these palliatives is our top priority."

This positive response highlights the importance of effective communication and a careful, needs-based approach to relief distribution, ensuring fair allocation of resources. Moving forward, community members and government officials alike are committed to focusing on sustainable solutions to manage and mitigate the effects of future floods, reducing their impact on vulnerable areas.
