The Kogi State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Dr Olufemi Bolarin, as the Commissioner Ministry of Livestock in the State.
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Dr Bolarin was confirmed on Tuesday on the floor of house in Lokoja.
The Speaker of the Kogi state House Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu, who read the communication of Governor Usman Ododo at plenary noted that it’s the duty of the Assembly to confirm any nominee before they can assume duty, if they are found to be qualified.
After answering questions from members, at the committee of the whole house, Dr. Bolarin, in a unanimous decision was subsequently confirmed as commissioner for the newly created ministry of Livestock.
The Speaker and members of the Assembly in their separate comments called on the newly cleared Commissioner, to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the new ministry as the pioneer Commissioner.
Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, an Associate Professor from University of Ilorin, was a former Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural resources in Kogi state and the immediate past State Coordinator of L-PRES in the state.
Speaking to Assembly Correspondent shortly after he was confirmed by the lawmakers, the new Commissioner of livestock noted that Kogi State has a great advantage in livestock management.
"Kogi State is one of the very first State in the federation that has taken a proactive step in forming the Ministry of Livestock. It is a big applause to the Governor of Kogi State.
"We will leverage on investors to put on a global standard for livestock development in Kogi State. The ultimate aim of nomadic is extinction, so we have to embrace modern agriculture"he added.
