There is growing frustration amongst supporters and aspirants to various positions in Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC as the constitution drafting committee appointed by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, fails to meet the end of January 2025 mandate handed down to them by the Warri Monarch, to conclude its assignment, " for a new executive council of INYC to be elected."
Recall that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, had Monday October 28, 2024, announced dissolution of the executive of Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC at a well attended Itsekiri Youths Assembly, held at the Olu Palace, Warri.
The Monarch immediately appointed a constitution drafting committee, following reported failure of the disbanded youth body to successfully adopt a new constitution and conduct election to elect new executives at the National and chapter levels.
The Olu, appointed Presidents of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG and National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS as the core of a committee to draft new constitution for INYC, with Chief Omolubi Newuwumi and Chief Wilson Olley, working as Advisers.
As the time of filing this report, all aspirants to the various positions in the proposed new INYC leadership, have maintained waging tongues as a result of the constitution drafting committee to issue statement as to when they would come up with a new constitution for the Itsekiri apex youth body and release time-table for electioneering.
Matters got to head recently when some community and ex-youth leaders, attended a training in Lagos, which was sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB.
It was argued by key stakeholders that if a substantive INYC leadership, was in place, prior to the NCDMB sponsored training, the youth body, would have taken responsibility of nominating the training attendees.
