Warri: Olodi, Oki, Ighogbadu families of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, alert of fraudulent sale, resale of lands

The Olodi, Oki and Ighogbadu families kindred of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, have alerted members of the public against what they described as serious fraudulent practice by some members of their families and non-indigenes, as it affects sale or resale of lands, within Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri.

Our Principal Correspondent, reports that the warning was contained in a public announcement signed by the Chairman, Management Committee of Olodi, Oki and Ighogbadu Families Kindred of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, Prince Mike O. Okumagba, the Secretary, Mr. Andrew Omaghomi Oki and Auditor, Hon. Sammy F. Eyekpimi.

The statement, which was made available to Fresh Angle International, Monday March 3, stated inter-alia: “The General public is hereby warned against a serious fraudulent practice by some members of our Families including indigenes and non- indigenes who appear to be familiar with our environment.

“They dupe unwary members of the public in many ways with impunity including the sale or resale of land to members of the public who eventually will lose their money.

“ROBBERY IN OUR LAYOUT

“There is a growing virtual robbery in our layout area of Warri. Dissidents of our Families daily parade our layout extorting money from persons who intend to do land lease/transfer without the consent of neither the Board of Trustees nor the Management Committee.

“Also, they parade themselves as agents of the Kindred Families to sell the lands behind the State Headquarters of the Delta State Internal Revenue, along Airport Road.

“Some of these dissidents were successfully prosecuted in the past by the police; in spite of this, the practice is still rampant in the layout in recent times.

“We are appealing to the general public and the Law Enforcement Agencies especially the Nigerian Police Force (B' Division) Warri to join us in fighting these crimes and preventing fraud in our layout. It is our concern that members of the public are not duped by these unscrupulous and fraudulent members of our Families and stranger elements.

“The only body who can authorize the sale or resale of land, transfer of land and all Families business is the Board of Trustees through the Management Committee in our office situated at No. 56 Okumagba Avenue, near Venne Hospital (Contact No.: 08138789954).”
