Ugbajo Itsekiri USA Refutes claim of Financial Incompetence made by INC

Ugbajo Itsekiri USA Inc., a renowned Itsekiri charitable Organization based in the United States has rebuffed claims made by the Itsekiri National Congress (INC) USA, under the leadership of Otse Amorighoye.

The accusations included claims of illegitimacy, constitutional violations, and financial incompetence. 

In an online chat with Newsmen recently, President of the Organization, Jemine Okotie-Yesin rejected the accusations, stating that it regularly presented quarterly financial records to ensure accountability and transparency.

Okotie-Yesin revealed that the INC, USA had set up an interim government, which he said violated the Ugbajo constitution. He added that the INC, USA sought to take control of the Organisation. This led to a legal dispute over the legitimacy of its Executives, with a court in Columbia, USA, ruling in favour of Ugbajo and upholding the legitimacy of its Executives.

Okotie-Yesin further stated that the INC, USA, presented false documents to the bank and attempted to seize control of the organization’s accounts.

According to him, efforts to resolve the dispute through proper channels and in line with the organization’s constitution have been unsuccessful.

When asked about the possibility of reconciliation between the two groups, Yesin said Ugbajo Itsekiri USA is open to accepting members of the INC back as one family. However, they would need to apply for reinstatement through the organization’s local chapters.

“Our door remains open. We have let the other group know that the way to become a member of our association is through your local chapters. If you feel the need to get back with us as one family, write to us through your local chapters,” he stated.

The Ugbajo Itsekiri USA Inc. President also reaffirmed the Organisation’s commitment to improving the lives of the Itsekiri community in Nigeria through various humanitarian initiatives, including medical outreach held recently in Warri, where more than 200 Itsekiri cataract patients receive free medical and surgical treatment, saying that the next medical outreach would take place in riverine communities.
