I was presented with a medical report on behalf of a patient who I was seeing for the first time at OgwashiUku prison (custodial center) about 2 to 3yr ago and I responded to it because this patient who was 73yr about that time actually has elevated blood pressure (known hypertension patient) and his lawyer wanted me to review him. It was later I learnt the report sent to me from his lawyer wasn't originally from UBTH (University of Benin Teaching Hospital) and the wrong narrative was spread online and within some circles that it came from me.
I was confused because the said report was written in flawless language of medicine, more like an imposter of a cardiologist status.
The patient got bail to go treat himself afterwards, and his complainants started imagining all possible way to bring me into such things while I was only doing my job as a correctional service medical doctor, and the number one care giver of these group of people under my care in the 5 custodial centers in Delta state command which I oversea medically.
Few months after I was summoned to the Federal Investigation Bureau Obalende Lagos after my controller granted permission for me to go tell them the truth of the matter. They later found out the lawyer of this elderly patient (awaiting trial inmate) brought the letter to me and he said it was from the family members of the patient. I was then exonerated and I was surprised my professionalism was questioned in an inappropriate manner, more so seeing publications without hearing my side of the story really sadden my heart. I don't know how to petition or do legal battle, I hand matters over to GOD and HE had really fought and still fighting for me. The police unit had to use tracking mechanism to trail the source of the medical report because it was now a case I could press charges for, using a forged document to obtain my own authentic assessment through false pretense. What would I have done if it was my uncle or father at 73 yr in prison, would I have added more sorrow and misery upon him? It was in this instance I allowed everything rest.
