A group, Itsekiri Dynamic Forum, says the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, did not conduct Ward and Polling Unit delineation in Warri Federal Constituency, “rather an INEC official carried out boundary adjustment.”
The Chairman of Itsekiri Dynamic Forum, Emma Jube, made the allegation, Tuesday April 8, during a press briefing in Warri, Delta State.
He stated: “The Itsekiri Dynamic Forum, following a meticulous review of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC proposed wards and polling delineation in Warri Federal Constituency released to stakeholders at Asaba, Delta State on Friday 4th April 2025;
“We observed that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not conduct Wards and Polling Units Delineation in Warri Federal Constituency in the true sense but rather an INEC official carried out boundary adjustment.
“We hereby state as follows:
“We strongly reject the proposed wards and Polling Units Delineation in Warri Federal Constituency, as it bears no resemblance to the actual state of affairs.
“The so-called report appears to be a preconceived script that has been submitted to INEC for presentation.
“We oppose the relocation of Polling Units from Omadino land in Obodo/Omadino Warri to Ogunu/Ekurede Urhobo, which is over 20 kilometers away.
“We totally reject the renaming of our lands with foreign and non-existent names, along with deliberate attempts to claim ownership of Itsekiri land that has already been settled by a competent court of law.
“We reject the use of INEC wards and polling units’ delineation to claim ownership of Itsekiri land that has already been settled.
“Consequently, we are calling for a transparent, fair and just delineation of Wards and Polling Units in Warri Federal Constituency, devoid of dollarisation, and also monitored by the Civil Society Organization.”
