Itsekiri leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Warri South, Warri North, Warri South-West Local Government Areas and beyond, on Monday June 23, began bonding with a view to work in unity and strengthen the party, ahead of the 2027 general elections, Fresh Angle International, can report.
The gathering of the older and new APC members of Itsekiri extraction, which held in Warri, Delta State, was described as a bold attempt to integrate the Itsekiri nation fully into national politics.
The Member Representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief (Dr.) Thomas Ereyitomi, while addressing the party faithful, averred: “We, the Itsekiri people have resolved that where we are today, APC, is the party we are to work with come 2027.
“This meeting is for us as Itsekiri people to integrate as a tribe, as a nation, both old members and new ones, are here. To have a focus on how our tribe will work with our ruling party.

“We are here as a tribe to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a job well done, he has done so much and we believe that the man who has done very well, his winning team will not change and to our amiable governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevowi, whose praises has been sang by people of Delta State and beyond, for doing very well.

Delta South Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Austin Oribioye, in his opening remarks, explained that the gathering, was to begin bonding of Itsekiris in the APC.

Highpoint of the political congregation, was the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for second term in office.
The endorsement exercise, which was presided over by Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, saw two former members of Delta State House of Assembly; Hon. Daniel Omayone Mayuku and Hon. Emmanuel Orugbo, moving and seconding the motion, respectively, while a unanimous thunderous voice vote followed.

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Ayirimi Emami, who addressed newsmen shortly after the meeting, stated: “APC Itsekiri leaders endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for second term in office for their excellent performances in office.”

Whilst blaming politics for the divide amongst Itsekiri indigenes in recent times, Chief Emami, thanked God that the Itsekiris are coming together as united family.
He stated: "Una know say we endorse my Oga and my leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term in office. I for nor endorse Sheriff Oborevwori, but as Dem come join us for our party, I nor get choice. So, I endorse the two of them."
