Communique of ACNPN meeting held Wednesday June 25


Members of the Delta State Council of the Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN, held a crucial meeting, Wednesday 25th June, where issues bordering on the progress of the body were critically looked into and extensively deliberated upon, at the end of which the members resolved as follows:

(1) Commend His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State, for his magnanimity in approving a Seminar/Workshop for the body of Publishers in the state under the office of the Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to the Governor on Community Newspapers from 20th to 21st May, 2025.

(2) In line with the resolutions reached at the end of the Seminar/Workshop where the SSA Prince Orhomonokpaye set up a Committee to unite the various factions of publishers in the state, publishers resolved to henceforth come together under the ACNPN platform under the leadership of Mr. Philip Ike Abiagum as Chairman.

(3) In line with the resolve to henceforth unite under the ACNPN umbrella, a membership Revalidation Exercise shall immediately commence to formally register and accredit all publishers into the Delta ACNPN Council.

(4) A five - man Committee was set up to look critically into complaints from members concerning issues arising from the said Seminar/Workshop with the aim of reconciling such issues for the avoidance of future occurrences.

(5) The Delta ACNPN Council commended Dr. Dike Awana, Chief Daniel Ekiugbo  and others who contributed immensely to the attainment of the peace and unity that has been brokered to exist among publishers in the state.
