The Head of Osigidi Family, Pa. Rogers Okorodudu and the Head of Egiri Family, Pa. Dele Urowayino, both of Uwakeno Community in Warri South Local Government Area, have strongly objected a purported plan by the David Olumami Akiuyatsemi led faction in Uwakeno community, to concession Uwakeno Community land to neighbouring Obodo Community

Fresh Angle International, can report that the rejection of the two-family heads, was contained in a letter dated July 1, 2025 and addressed to the Olare-Aja (oldest man) of Obodo Community in Warri South Local Government Area, Pa. Lucky Amadedon.

Pa. Okorodudu, who is also the most elderly man/patron of the Osigidi family and Pa. Urowayino, in the letter written, “on behalf of all the good people of Uwakeno community” described the alleged plan by the David Olumami Akiuyatsemi faction to concession Uwakeno community land, well head and territories as well as plan to pay homages to Obodo community, as “unauthorized, illegitimate, and a clear betrayal of the trust and mandate of the Uwakeno people.”

The correspondent, titled; “Re: Strong Objection Letter On Conceding Uwakeno Community Land, Crude Oil Well Head(S) And Territories And Payment Of Homages To Obodo Community By The David Olumami Akiuyatsemi Led Factional Group In Uwakeno Community” stated inter-alia: “We write for and on behalf of our humble selves as the eldest man, head of Osigidi family and patron of Uwakeno community and head of the Egiri family and on behalf of all the good people of Uwakeno community to express our strongest objection to the planned concession of Uwakeno community land, well head, and territories and payment of homages to Obodo community by the David Olumami Akiuyatsemi led factional group in Uwakeno community.

“This action is unauthorized, illegitimate, and a clear betrayal of the trust and mandate of the Uwakeno people.

“We as the Most Elderly Man alive, head of the Osigidi family and Patron of Uwakeno Community and in agreement with the head of the Egiri family of Uwakeno community, we want to emphasize that the David Olumami Akiuyatsemi led factional group does not have the mandate to negotiate or concede any part of Uwakeno community land, crude oil well head(s), and territories to Obodo community or any other entity, nor do they have the authority to agree to payment of homages to Obodo and any other community.

“Uwakeno community is an autonomous community, owned exclusively by the Osigidi and Egiri families, and our autonomy must be respected. We are shocked that this factional group would attempt to take such a drastic step without consulting the larger Uwakeno community or obtaining the necessary approvals.

“This action has the potential to ignite crisis and destabilize the peace that exists between our communities.

“Furthermore, it is essential to note that currently there are strong factional divisions within Uwakeno community, and the David Olumami Akiuyatsemi led factional group is just one of the factions.

“Their actions do not represent the views and interests of the entire Uwakeno community. It is also crucial to note that the Egiri family, one of the founding families of Uwakeno community, has no family relationship with Ajakeji quarters, nor any other quarters in Obodo community.

“Therefore, no member of the Egiri family should be associated with any forms of concessions of Uwakeno community land to Obodo community, Omadino community, or any other community, group, or individual claiming ownership of Uwakeno community territories.

“Notwithstanding, in like manner, Mr. Stephen Ajueyitsi, Otomewo Omereyemi and others from the Egiri family are also specifically barred from executing any forms of documents and/or agreements with Obodo community on behalf of the Egiri family and the entire Uwakeno community. Any attempt to do so will be considered null and void.

“We urge you to recognize the complexities within Uwakeno community and avoid dealing with this factional group as representatives of our community.

“We will not be bound by any agreement or concession made with Pa. David Olumami Akiuyatsemi and his group without our consent.”
