The Coalition of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria, (COMJAN) says it has felicitated with the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, on his election as chairman council of World Customs Organization (WCO.)

This was contained in a statement issued, signed and made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital by (COMJAN,) President, Ambassador Dr. Ralph John and Pastor Tony Nzekwe, Secretary.

The statement reads in part : “We are not surprised, since assumption of office in June 2023, the Customs boss has left no stone unturned in his quest and passion to make huge impacts and improvements in the operational, administrative and service delivery in the Service."

The statement continued "sequel to the backdrop, the coalition of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria, COMJAN, do hereby congratulate the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir, Adeniyi on his recent election as the chairman council of WCO."

"For such an assignment to be bestowed on CGC is a show of integrity, diligence and an approval to Nigeria's current efforts in international affairs.”

The statement insisted that (COMJAN) has recognised the outstanding performance, leadership capacity and ethical conduct and the CGC's highly innovative style which culminated in the various reforms at the Nigeria Customs Service at the moment.

However, COMJAN says it is urging “CGC Adeniyi to be more upright with member nations and relate with them with greater understanding and brotherly conduct irrespective of their candor."
