The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Council, has commended the Delta State House of Assembly for passing the “Community Security Corps Agency” bill.
The bill reflects our collective understanding of the evolving security challenges and our proactive response to ensure that every Deltan can live and work in peace.
The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN),made the commendation on Thursday in Asaba in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom.
Abiagom described the move as a “giant stride” and one of the greatest achievements in history of the Delta House of Assembly. He added that the action had shown that the Legislators were in tandem with the desire of Delta State founding fathers and in tune with nation political trend.
He said: the State Legislature has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the people mostly the grassroots and he is optimistic that the Bill once signed into law will significantly enhance peace, order and security across all nooks and crannies of the state.
“The passage of this bill is timely and essential to the growth of democracy in Delta State and will affect the common people on the street.
“So, we wish to sincerely commend the Honourable Speaker and members of 8th Delta State Assembly, especially those who actively contributed in various discussions and voted in favour of the bill which leads to its accelerated passage.
“We also commend the efforts of critical stakeholders and partners especially the media, and other colleagues in the Civil Society for working assiduously to ensure the bill sees the light of the day,’’
He called on members of Local Government Legislators(Councilors)to key into the vision by domesticating the bill.
Abiagom urged Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori,to as a matter of urgency assent to the bill to ensure the implementation of its provisions.
