The Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Warri South Chapter, Comr. Destiny Noritsegho, says communities and non-governmental organizations, have great role to play in the recovery process of drug addicts.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Comr. Noritsegho, made the declaration Tuesday August 19 in Warri, during an event hosted by Olori Atuwaste III, the Queen Consort of Warri kingdom.

The event, was part of activities of the 4th coronation anniversary celebration of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.

The Warri South Youth Chairman, who spoke on the theme: “The Socio-Economic Impact of Substance Abuse Among the Youths in the Niger Delta”, explained that the database his leadership of NYCN intends to create for youths in Warri South Local Government Area, is part of strategies to tackle substance/drug abuse by youths and re-orientate them “to become active contributors to the nation's growth and development.”

The Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Delta State Chapter, Hon. (Chief) Isaiah O. Esiovwa JP, who also spoke, during the event, promised that the anti-drug abuse programme initiated by Wife of the Warri Monarch, Olori Atuwaste III, will be replicated in the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.

The event, which was attended by key stakeholders from the NDLEA, NYSC and the Royal Iwere Foundation, was highlighted with the presentation of award to McCarthy Oritsetseyigbemi Jessy (winner of the 2025 NDLEA Inter-School Essay Competition) by Her Majesty, Olori Atuwaste III.

 

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, were among over 10 local government chairmen in Delta State, that graced the event.
