Proud Son of Warri Kingdom and widely travelled Social Media Influencer, Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) has written the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, identifying high cost of transporting building materials by boat, as a major impediment to the development of Itsekiri Island communities.
In the letter, made available to Fresh Angle International Wednesday evening, September 3, Mr. Jollof, appealed to the Warri Monarch to consider free or subsidized transportation system for building materials; through boats, barges, or a structured arrangement endorsed by the Palace, as possible panacea to open the floodgates of investments in the Itsekiri Island communities.
He stated:
“Your Majesty,
“With deep respect and loyalty, I write as a son of the soil who shares in your vision for the growth and prosperity of Warri Kingdom.
“Our land is richly blessed with culture, history, and natural beauty, yet there are untapped opportunities that can transform our region into a thriving hub of development and tourism.
“One of such opportunities lies in the development of our coastal and island communities. Many of us dream of building homes, resorts, and small businesses in these areas. However, the high cost of transporting building materials by boat has remained a major obstacle. Presently, the expense of moving cement, iron rods, sand, and other essentials from the town to our islands, makes development nearly impossible for ordinary citizens.

Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof)
“Your Majesty, if there could be a free or subsidized transportation system for building materials; perhaps through boats, barges, or a structured arrangement endorsed by the Palace, it would open the floodgates of investment. Our youths would find employment, new businesses would spring up, and Warri could emerge as a true coastal destination, just as Lagos has done with its islands.
“We also humbly call on you to align with the Delta State Government and federal authorities, urging them to construct access roads, bridges, and jetties to connect these communities. Such infrastructure will not only reduce hardship, but also unlock immense economic opportunities for our people.
“Your Majesty, with your leadership and influence, we believe this vision can be realized. Warri can and will stand proudly as a beacon of progress in the Niger Delta.
“With loyalty and hope,
“Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof )
