"Today, we join the global community to celebrate the International Day of Peace, with the theme 'Act Now for a Peaceful World.'This year's celebration is particularly significant for us in Warri South, as we strive to build a more harmonious and united community. We gather today as representatives of different ethnic groups, religions, and backgrounds, but united in our pursuit of peace and development.

"The recent tensions in our community have caused concern, but I'm optimistic that together, we can overcome these challenges. As your leader, I urge you to embrace peace and shun divisive tendencies. Let's reject hate speech, falsehoods, and inflammatory posts on social media that could fuel further crises. Instead, let's promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for one another.

"To achieve this, let's focus on key actions:

* Embracing Diversity: Let's celebrate our differences and promote inclusivity in our community.

* Dialogue and Reconciliation: We must engage in open discussions to resolve conflicts and work towards healing.

* Youth Empowerment: By equipping ourselves with skills and knowledge, we can contribute to the development of our community.

"Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's peace committee, comprising representatives from the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo ethnic nationalities, is a step in the right direction. Let's support this initiative and work together to restore lasting harmony in Warri.

"As we mark this International Day of Peace, let's commit to being ambassadors of peace in our community. Let's build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations. Together, we can achieve peace and development in Warri South. Build the youth, build the nation.

"Let us act now for a peaceful world, starting with our community."
