Former Chairman, Governing Council Ugborodo Community Trust in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Barr. Augustine Nonen Oboroegbeyi, on Friday September 26, dismissed the absence of the Olaja-Orori of Ugborodo Community, Pa. Benson Dube Omadeli as well as the Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo Community & Chairman, Council of Elders, Eghare Daniel Uwawah, as the “Olare-Aja of Ajudiabo Community and oldest man in the entire Ugborodo Community, Pa. Robinson A.U. Edema”, unveiled a new “Governing Council of Ugborodo Community Trust”, in Warri, Delta State.
Barr. Oboroegbeyi, while presenting “Progress Report on Ugborodo Community Trust Governing Council” at Ugborodo House, Ajamimogha, Warri, recalled: “Since 1969, the administration of the aggregated Communities known simply as Ugborodo Community is by the Ugborodo Community Trust (UCT) through a Governing Council usually constituted of persons nominated from the aggregated Communities by their appropriate authorities.
“In rare situations through Government intervention, Management Committees have been set up, constituted of persons nominated from the aggregated Communities by their appropriate authorities.
“The first Governing Council of the Ugborodo Community Trust constituted in 1969 was chaired by late Chief Hope Harriman. Between 1993 -1996, the Governing Council was constituted with late Pa. Sandys Omadeli Uvwoh as Chairman

“Between 2008 and 2011, the Governing Council was constituted with Chief Ereyitomi Thomas as Chairman, for a first tenure. The second tenure between 2011 and 2014, was constituted by the Olares-Aja of the federating Communities without the Eghare-Aja and Olajori.
“Obstacles put in the desire to constitute the Governing Council after that of Ereyitomi Thomas created crisis that resulted in Federal Government intervention and establishment of the EPZ Interface Committee in 2015 and later Delta State Government appointed Ugborodo Community Management Committee between 2017 and 2019.
“The Barr Augustine Oboroegbeyi first tenure Governing Council constituted in August 2019 in a general meeting of Ugborodo people presided over by Eghare-Aja Wellington Ojogor, was immediately taken to Court by those who want to control Ugborodo Community with Daniel Odoko Uwawah now Eghare Aja in the fore front. The second tenure equally frustrated by the same people.

“The frustration of the two tenures of the Augustine Oboroegbeyi led Governing Council, not withstanding, at the end of the second tenure in August 2025, they informed the Olares-Aja of the federating Communities and Elders, to constitute a new Governing Council, instead the Eghare-Aja, Daniel Odoko Uwawah and two others announced a Management Committee in the Vanguard of 8th August 2025 with Tunu Onuwaje as Chairman, which Ugborodo people rejected.
“Ugborodo Community is for all Ugborodo people and not for two or three persons, because they are Eghare-Aja or Olajori.
“Today we want to let you know that a Governing Council of the Ugborodo Community Trust has been constituted with Ugborodo people nominated from the various Communities, endorsed by the appropriate authorities in the various Communities.”
In his brief remarks, before inaugurating the new “Governing Council of Ugborodo Community Trust”, Pa. Robinson A.U. Edema, charged members of the Trust: “You people are to work for the community, you should not spoil the community.”
