The Executive Director, Finance and Administration, DESOPADEC, Chief Kome Okpobor yesterday 29th September, 2025 received the Organising Committee of the forthcoming Delta South Youth Summit at the Commission’s Headquarters in Warri.

Responding to their submission, Chief Kome Okpobor commended the Committee for their dedication and assured them of his full support while recalling his first meeting with Comrade Hyacinth, noting that the passion behind the project immediately struck a chord with him.

“When Hyacinth first came to me with the idea of this summit, I saw the pain and determination in his heart. I keyed into it completely because it aligns with the agenda of His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Anything that promotes my boss, the Governor, I will always stand behind. The purpose of this summit is to sensitize our youths, and I am glad it is finally taking shape,” he said.

Chief Okpobor praised the committee for their planning, particularly their choice of colors which he noted reflected those used during the Governor’s campaign.

“I am proud of how you are carrying along our leaders from Delta South, ensuring inclusiveness and respect. This is not only for the Governor and our President but for all our leaders and the youths,” he added.

Urging the team to sustain their energy beyond the summit, Chief Okpobor said, “The force you are using to galvanize this summit, I plead that you carry it into 2027. We have those who would want to truncate the Governor’s progress but with unity and commitment, we can deliver for him.

Across Delta State, every Local Government has a project from this administration, even here in Warri, and we must protect and promote that progress,” he stated.

Advising the Committee to apply wisdom in managing leaders who may not immediately support the initiative, he said, “We must not give the impression that any leader is being overlooked. This summit must have an impact and it will have an impact,” he emphasized.

Assuring the Committee of his unwavering support, Chief Okpobor said, “You have my full backing all through this process and even after the summit. I believe this initiative will inspire other districts to follow suit and when they do, we will be ready to make it even bigger,” he said.

Earlier, the Committee led by Comrade Ede Hyacinth had expressed their gratitude to Chief Okpobor for making the summit a reality after years of stalled efforts due to financial constraints.

“For the past three years, we have tried to make this happen but funding was always a major challenge. With your intervention, Chief, this project is finally off the ground and we are moving forward with every arrangement in place.

The youths of Delta South are extra excited about this summit,” Hyacinth said. Highlight of the meeting was the presentation of customized merchandise for the Delta South Youth Summit to Chief Okpobor by the Organizing Committee as a token of appreciation for his sponsorship and unwavering support, a gesture he warmly received with gratitude and encouragement for the team to continue their commitment to making the summit impactful.

The summit, which is being powered and sponsored by Chief Okpobor, is set to be a landmark event for young people across the senatorial district.
