The Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo Federated Communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Eghare Daniel Uwawah, has affirmed the Mr. Emmanuel Onuwaje led Ugborodo Community Management Committee, UCMC, urging the relevant government agencies and International Oil and Gas Companies, IOCs, to deal with the Onuwaje leadership on behalf of Ugborodo.
Eghare Uwawah, made the declaration Wednesday October 1, during an interview with newsmen, on the sidelines of a tripartite press conference held at Ode-Ugborodo, by the Ugborodo Community Management Committee, UCMC, Ikpere ALEMEJE Women Traders Association and the UCYDB.
Recall that former Chairman, Governing Council Ugborodo Community Trust in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Barr. Augustine Nonen Oboroegbeyi, had on Friday September 26 in Warri, dismissed the absence of the Olaja-Orori of Ugborodo Community, Pa. Benson Dube Omadeli as well as the Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo Community & Chairman, Council of Elders, Eghare Daniel Uwawah, during the unveiling of a new “Governing Council of Ugborodo Community Trust” led by Joseph Tenumah.
Eghare Uwawah, while speaking to newsmen today, stated: “Less than three months ago, I put up a management committee, that is overseeing the Ugborodo land and they are doing a good job as far as I am concern.
“Three days ago, I got a notice that people in Warri, put up another Management Trust, of which I didn’t ask them to do. I am pleading with the government not to listen to them.
“The host community has just put in a new management committee, which Mr. Emmanuel Onuwaje, is the chairman, Mr. Eyengho Samuel Besidone, is the secretary. Our government, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Shell and other IOCs, should be aware of it and these persons, which I have mentioned, are the ones they are to listen to.
“Barr. Austin Oboroegbeyi, registered a Trustee in 2018, which we the elders were against, the elders in Ajudiabo, Madangho and others, signed that we don’t want trustee anymore and still they went behind the community to go ahead and register the Trustee, that trustee is not going to work.
“If anything bad happens in Ugborodo community, the government should hold Austin Oboroegbeyi and David Tonwe, because they all know that they were not suppose to sign any paper. David Tonwe is using his position as the DG to sign my paper. I am the Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo.”
A leader of Ugborodo Federated Communities, Comr. Alex Eyengho, who also spoke to newsmen, noted: “Ugborodo is the highest oil producing community in Nigeria and this community is the host to Chevron, Shell and other IOCs.
“That exercise those persons, who are on self exile did at far away Ajamimogha in Warri South Local Government Area, is an exercise in futility. They do not have the authority of Ugborodo community to do what they did. It is an illegal act, which is dead on arrival, because it is not in the interest, unity and peace of Ugborodo Community
“To Shell, Chevron, NUPRC and other IOCs, this is Ugborodo Community, where you make your money, we deserve better. The elders, women and youths are angry and there is a limit to which the community can be patient with the IOCs.”
