PUBLIC NOTICE
Issued on behalf of the Ugborodo Community Management Committee (UCMC) and the People of Ugborodo Community
The attention of the Ugborodo Community Management Committee (UCMC) has been drawn to a malicious rumour currently making the rounds, alleging that the Ugborodo people are preparing to crown a king.
We wish to state in the clearest of terms — clear enough for the blind to see and loud enough for the deaf to hear — that such information is false, unfounded, baseless, and fabricated from the pit of hell.
This falsehood is being peddled by those who, without due process, illegally selected themselves as “kangaroo executives” of Ugborodo Community Trust, from Warri urban, far away from the soil and heartbeat of Ugborodo Community, as published in the Vanguard of 24th September, 2025, to justify their criminal intentions. They have now resorted to cheap blackmail and propaganda.
The Ugborodo Institution and Heritage:
For the record, Ugborodo Community boasts of a respected historical trajectory, dating back to before the 13th Century, with a traditional institution anchored on an agelong leadership structure, comprising the Eghare-Aja, Olaja-Orori, and other paraphernalia and titles that uphold our customs and heritage.
This institution continues to work in harmony with approved community organs in pursuit of development, peace, and progress. At no time, have the Ugborodo people contemplated, initiated, or entertained any plan to crown or coronate a king.
Our Position:
Ordinarily, such fake news would not deserve our attention. However, considering the dangerous intent behind it and the potential to create unrest — and noting the clear design by certain fifth columnists to sow division between the Palace of His Majesty, the Most revered Olu of Warri, and the Ugborodo Traditional Council of Elders, we are compelled to set the records straight.
Those behind this propaganda, have exposed their selfish agenda. They are desperately seeking external support — from both elements in the Delta State Government, where one of their key players, serves as a D.G of Security, and from certain self-serving Chiefs from the palace pursuing personal contracts — to enable them orchestrate an invasion of Ugborodo from their Warri enclave.
These antics, represent the handiwork of haters and un-progressive elements, whose sole aim is to destabilise our peaceful community.
Our Call to Security Agencies and the Public
We hereby:
1. Call on all Security Agencies — the SSS, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, and Nigerian Navy — to take special note of this mischievous development, and to hold accountable those spreading this falsehood.
2. Appeal to the public to disregard in its entirety the rumour of any planned coronation of a King in Ugborodo Community.
3. Reaffirm our commitment as leaders to continue steering Ugborodo Comminity on the path of peace, unity, development, and progress under the watchful eyes of the Eghare-Aja, Olaja - Orori and the Ugborodo Council of Elders.
4. Restate our resolve to remain firm and immovable in safeguarding the dignity, peace, and prosperity of Ugborodo Community.
Long live Ugborodo Community!
Long live Warri Kingdom!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
