Vociferous pro-Itsekiri group, Itsekiri Youths Elites, IYE, has obeyed reported directive of The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to expunge the word ‘Youths’ in its operational name.

Secretary of the group, Eboma Tuoyo Michael, who made the name change public in Warri, Delta State, while reading a communique Monday November 24, explained that Itsekiri Youths Elites, will now be known as ‘Itsekiri Young Elites’ retaining the IYE acronym, despite the name change.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Eboma, who read the communique in the presence of President of IYE, Comrade Lily-White O. Esigbone and other prominent members of the organization, expressed gratitude to Chief Wilson Olley and Chief Omolubi Nenewumi, for their counsel, guidance and encouragement throughout the name change process.

The Communique, reads inter-alia: “The leadership of the Itsekiri Youths Elites (IYE), under the distinguished presidency of Comrade Lily-White O. Esigbone and the able secretary Comr. Eboma Tuoyo Michael, hereby issues this formal communiqué to inform the general public, government institutions, partners, and all Nigerians of a significant development within our noble organisation.

“Guided by clarity of purpose and respect for the cultural framework of our kingdom, we consider it necessary to provide this update in the spirit of transparency and responsibility.

“Since its establishment, the Itsekiri Youths Elites (IYE) has remained steadfast in its mission as a socio-cultural platform dedicated to advancing the collective interests of the Itsekiri Nation both at home and in the diaspora. We have consistently upheld our cherished heritage, promoted unity among our people, and supported the revered Crown of the Warri Kingdom with unwavering loyalty and purpose.

“Recent public discourse and clarifications from the Palace indicates that a directive was given to remove the term “Youths” from IYE, reaffirming the Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths (UIY) as the apex Itsekiri Youths body, of Warri Kingdom. As subjects of the Crown and custodians of Itsekiri values, we hold this royal position in the highest esteem.

“In honour of this directive, and in alignment with the cultural order that guides our kingdom, the leadership of IYE has taken immediate and responsible steps to reposition the organisation.

“We therefore announce that the body formerly known as Itsekiri Youths Elites (IYE) shall henceforth be known and addressed as Itsekiri Young Elites (IYE). This adjustment not only reflects our commitment to decorum and traditional hierarchy but also affirms our readiness to contribute meaningfully within the proper structure of the Warri Kingdom.

“To complement this transition, we are pleased to unveil our newly refined organisational logo, a symbol crafted to capture our renewed vision, strengthened identity, and the enduring spirit of progress that defines the Itsekiri people. This emblem stands as a testament to our growth and our continued dedication to service of Iwereland.

“The leadership of IYE expresses profound gratitude to Chief Wilson Olley and Chief Omolubi Nenewumi for their counsel, guidance, and encouragement throughout this process. Their wisdom has been invaluable in ensuring that this transition is carried out with dignity, respect, and adherence to established cultural norms.

“We respectfully call on government agencies, traditional institutions, corporate bodies, development partners, and all stakeholders within and outside Nigeria to take due note of this official change and update their records accordingly. As we move forward under our new name, our resolve to support Ogiame, promote the Itsekiri Nation, and uphold the integrity of Warri Kingdom remains stronger than ever.”
