Youth leaders in Ugbomaru, Eyube-Numa Odion, Merogun, Pessu, Alders Town, Odion and Atse-Olu Communities, in the Daudu-Odion axis of Warri, Warri South Local Government Area, have dared the leaders of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, saying they should take the planned inauguration of a new executive of INYC elsewhere.
The youth leaders, who spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle International, Wednesday November 26 at the Pessu Community Secretariat in Warri, stated that the inauguration of the new INYC leadership scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday November 27 at INYC Secretariat in Odion Road, Warri, is an attempt to go against the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
Chairman of Pessu Community Youth, Jonathan Omamuli Ometan, while speaking, averred: “Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths, UIY is the only recognized Itsekiri youth body in the whole of Itsekiri nation. They are trying to go against our King, The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, by bringing another body called INYC.
“I am here to tell Itsekiris and the world that we the seven communities in Daudu-Odion axis, will not agree to this INYC. They will not do their inauguration in our community, we won't accept it. they should take their inauguration elsewhere.
“We are calling on Delta State Government, Warri South Local Government and security agencies, to come and see what is going on in this community, because there have been peace in the Odion-Daudu axis. We don't want anything or anybody to come and cause unrest here.”
Youth Chairman of Eyube-Numa Odion Community, Eyube Oke Eyitene, who also spoke, noted: “Odion-Dauda has been facing external issue, not now that we will be having internal issues.
“Anybody, chiefs from Itsekiri or non-Itsekiris that want to molest our king, we won't take it from that person or people.
“The inauguration of INYC should be taken to somewhere else and not in our community. We only have one youth body, which our king instituted for us and that is UIY chaired by Joseph Okotie.”
