The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals Joint Technical Committee (JTC) held their 4th Quarter 2025 meeting in Lagos, strengthening their collaboration as the refinery prepares for its planned expansion beyond the current 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity.
Chairman of the JTC, Mr. Silas Ajimijaye, called for a more proactive approach to identifying opportunities for increased Nigerian participation across refining operations and upcoming projects. He emphasized the need to drive innovation, boost local value retention, and ensure full alignment with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act.
Dangote Proposes In-Country R&D Cluster
At the meeting, the Dangote Refinery team presented a proposal to establish an in-country Research & Development (R&D) cluster to support refinery operations and enhance Nigeria’s broader oil and gas research capability. NCDMB welcomed the initiative, describing it as essential for strengthening technical capacity and promoting long-term industrial growth.
Strengthening Local Capacity:
The JTC reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Nigerian Content in engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance, and emerging opportunities such as fabrication, spare-parts manufacturing, logistics, technical services, and research-driven innovation.
Looking Ahead:
Ajimijaye, representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, assured that the Board will continue to provide strong support to ensure the refinery’s operational excellence and contribution to national energy security. The Committee will intensify stakeholder engagement and technical reviews in 2026 to further deepen Nigerian industrial participation.
