DELSU, best-ranked university in South-South, South-East, says Prof. Asagba

The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Prof. Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, says DELSU is currently the best-ranked university in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones as well as the 12th-ranked university in Nigeria.

Our Principal Correspondent, reports that Prof. Asagba, unveiled the ranking Monday December 1, at Abraka in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State, during the one-year anniversary celebration of his vice-chancellorship of DELSU.

While giving his stewardship, Prof. Asagba, stated that DELSU is fully digitalized in its academic and non-academic activities, urging those who are yet to collect their certificates to do so at ease, saying with the digitization, the institution can now send certificates to those concerned at their various locations.

He reeled out achievements recorded within his one-year in office as VC, to include introduction of new faculties and departments, collaboration with universities in South Africa, the UK, and China, promotion of 22 academics to professors, 17 associate professors and 267 non-teaching staff to senior positions, as well as the promotion of 31 junior non-teaching staff.

Prof. Asagba, emphasized that there's no increment in school fees in DELSU, so as not to burden parents and guardians, saying the school have staff strength greater than any other university.

According to him, the DELSU branch of ASUU, has not gone on strike for the past ten years, because “the system is responding to the needs of academic staff.”

He disclosed that all Vice Chancellors, have been warned not to eat or touch NELFUNDS loan for students, saying anyone apprehended, will be sanctioned.
