The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has proposed a budget estimate of seventeen billion, eight million, eight-hundred and seventy-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-six naira, eight-four kobo (N17,008,874,566.84K) as fiscal estimate for the year 2026, with capital expenditure expected to gulp 51.50 percent.
The Warri South Local Government Boss, who christened the budget estimate ‘RENEWED HOPE FOR MORE AGENDA’ projected eight billion, four hundred and ninety million, five hundred and fifty-five thousand, nine hundred- and ninety-four-naira, fifty-four kobo (N8,490,555,994.54K) representing 48.50% of the total budget size, for recurrent expenditure.
Making the presentation to the Warri South Legislative Arm, Tuesday December 9, at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, Comr. Agbateyiniro, explained that the proposed 2026 budget, is 30.1 percent less than 2025 budget of the Council, as a result of his administration’s policy of having a more realistic budget for 2026.
He stated: “Of the Seventeen billion, eight million, eight hundred and seventy-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-six naira, eighty-four kobo (N17,008,874,566.84k) eight billion, four hundred and ninety million, five hundred and fifty-five thousand, nine hundred and ninety-four naira, fifty-four kobo (N8,490,555,994.54K) representing 48.50% of the total budget size, is for recurrent expenditure, while eight billion, five hundred and eighteen million, three hundred and eighteen thousand, five hundred and seventy-two naira, thirty kobo (N8,518,318,572.30k) representing 51.50% is allocated to capital expenditure.
“We want to use this medium to appreciate the Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. {Elder} Sheriff Oborevwori for all his massive infrastructural development in Warri South, from the Warri City stadium, to Trans-Warri-Ode-Itsekiri Bridges and Access Road, that has just been completed and the electrification of all the community in that axis. Network of drainages to help permanently address the flood challenges in Warri and environs and all the road construction through WUEDA that are massively taken place in Warri and the proposed (4) four billion in the budget for all LGAs which we shall massively benefit from.
“Also, we want to use the medium to thank Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for directing the NPA operational office to be moved to Warri as this will no doubt create a lot of job opportunities for our youths.
“Consequently, it’s our wish that the expected cash inflow from statutory allocation from the Federal Government, with the introduction of the new Tax Law and subsidy removal of the 2025 Act, that was established by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that has led to increase in our FAAC, since the inception of the renewed hope agenda. And our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by God's special grace will meet up with our proposed expenditure.
“I place it on record that the Warri South Legislative Arm, has proved to be working partner in progress, in the implementation of our policies and programmes.”
Comr. Agbateyiniro, appealed to the Warri South Legislative Arm, to give the draft estimate speedy consideration and passage, a plea which the Legislative Arm, presided over by Rt. Hon. Joy Ejumudo, promised to favourably address.
