A middle aged woman, Mrs. Clara Utomi who was diagnosed with breast cancer by the University of Benin Teaching Hospital UBTH, has sued UBTH which was recently engulfed with financial crisis over perceived professional negligence following the cutting off of her breast, Fresh Angle can report.
Mrs. Utomi told Our Benin City Correspondent that she went to UBTH for medical checkup and she was told she is suffering from cancer of the breast. According to her, on hearing the medical report, she was not convinced hence she went to her private doctor who insisted that another test be carried out and the test proved positive.
She further disclosed that her private doctor later insisted on a third test to be carried out on her by the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
The result of the third test proved otherwise, as Mrs. Utomi was diagnosed of having no breast cancer, but unfortunately a UBTH doctor (name withheld) had already performed the surgery and one of her breast was cut off apparently to avoid the purported cancer from spreading to the other breast.
The helpless woman who cried profusely as she narrated her ordeal to Fresh Angle declared that she had no breast cancer as proven by the third test. “As I speak with you they are holding on to the third results”.
