The ancient town of Sapele in Delta State, was agog Saturday December 13 as 102 - year old Prince Smart David Gbenebitse, was installed Olare - Aja ( Oldest man) of Itsekiri communities in Sapele.
The momentous occasion, which held at Otonloye Hall, Sapele, in Sapele Local Government Area, attracted prominent chiefs of Warri Kingdom, the leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council, women groups as well as opinion and community leaders.
President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, Comrade Appearance Afejuku, who spoke to newsmen on the sidelines of the historic and granduer ceremony, described Pa Gbenebitse as a man of peace and one who strongly believes in harmonious relationship between people of different tribes and religion.
Comrade Afejuku, pledged the commitment of INYC to work with the new Olare - Aja of Itsekiri Communities, Sapele, so as to fast - track the development of Itsekiri communities in Sapele and the entire Sapele Local Government Area.
The Itsekiri youth leader, commended the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Chief Okakuro Abeke Bright Afure, the security agencies and Okpe people in Sapele, for their support in making the installation ceremony a success.
