Prominent Itsekiri leader and politician, Chief Ayirimi Emami, says he cancelled the 2026 edition of his annual new year day get - together at his palatial home in Egbokodo, Warri, due to the brutal murder of Emiko Onuwaje at Ogidigben in Ugborodo on December 20.
Chief Emami, stated that the people of Ugborodo and patriotic Itsekiris were still grieving as a result of the bloody incident, saying holding the ceremonial bash, would be disrespectful to the late Emiko Onuwaje and members of the Onuwaje family.
Whilst assuring that the year 2026 promises greater prospects for Itsekiri Nation and Warri Kingdom as a whole, Chief Emami, urged security agencies not to rest on their oars, until the sponsors and killers of Emiko Onuwaje, are brought to book.
He solicited the understanding of his friends, political and business associates, family members and community leaders, for cancellation of the get - together, saying justice for Emiko Onuwaje, takes prominence at this point in time for genuine Ugborodo Indigenes and Itsekiri Nation in general.
