The Delta State Police Command has recorded notable outcomes from a series of coordinated security operations across the state, resulting in seven arrests and the recovery of over 150 rounds of ammunition, firearms, cash and illicit drugs.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, disclosed this on Tuesday in Asaba during a press briefing, where he outlined key operational achievements recorded by the Command since his assumption of office.

According to him, the successes were recorded through five intelligence-driven operations carried out by the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), the Quick Response Squad and Area Command operatives, targeting kidnapping, illegal arms trafficking and drug-related crimes.

One of the major operations led to the arrest of a suspected inter-state kidnapper linked to criminal activities across Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers States. Following the arrest, investigations resulted in the recovery of firearms including an AK-47 rifle, a K-2 rifle and a pump-action gun, alongside magazines and over 150 rounds of live ammunition concealed at different locations in Bayelsa State and along the Ughelli-Warri axis.

In a separate operation along the Ughelli-Patani Road, police operatives recovered a K-2 rifle, locally fabricated firearms and ammunition while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects connected to the incident.

The Command also disrupted an illegal arms transaction in Ughelli, where three suspects were arrested during a sting operation. A pump-action gun and the sum of N280,000, believed to be part payment for the weapon, were recovered.

Further operations targeting drug-related offences led to the arrest of suspected drug dealers during raids in Sapele, Warri and along the Sapele-Warri Road. Quantities of suspected illicit drugs were recovered during the raids, with investigations ongoing.

CP Adesola reaffirmed the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to sustained, intelligence-led policing aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing public safety across the state.

He urged residents to continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information, while advising parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards and discourage involvement in criminal activities.
