The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, on Monday January 12, commenced a pivotal two-day Certified Technical Capacity Building Workshop for its SERVICOM Departmental Desk Officers (SDDOs).

Fresh Angle International, understands that the workshop, focused on the review of the 3rd Edition of the Integrated Service Charter and the development of a Local Charter, underscoring the Commission's unwavering dedication to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric service delivery.

The workshop, held in collaboration with the SERVICOM Presidency Team, was convened under the esteemed approval and leadership of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan.

The event was formally declared open by the Director of Administration, Mr. Austin N. Orogbu, who delivered the opening remarks while also standing in for the INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Sani Adams, and the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran Anthony, both of whom were unavoidably absent.

In his address, Director Orogbu highlighted the strategic importance of the workshop, stating, “We brought you here to demonstrate the seriousness the commission attaches to this exercise.”                                He proudly announced INEC SERVICOM's recent accolade as the “most improved parastatal service unit,” a testament to the Commission's progressive reforms. He charged all desk officers to “think outside the box to make the outcome of this workshop a great success.”

The Administrative Secretary for INEC Enugu State was ably represented by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Rex Achimie. In a comprehensive welcome address delivered on behalf of the Administrative Secretary, he extended gratitude to the SERVICOM Presidency Team for their invaluable partnership and guidance.

“This workshop is both timely and strategic,” the address noted. “As a commission entrusted with the critical responsibility of managing Nigeria's electoral process, INEC recognizes that credible elections are not only driven by sound laws and technology but also by efficient service delivery, responsiveness to stakeholders, and adherence to best administrative practices.”

The workshop's core objectives are to ensure the Service Charter's alignment with INEC’s strategic goals, integrate comprehensive stakeholder feedback, assess current performance metrics, and identify gaps for improvement. Expected outcomes include enhanced clarity of services, increased institutional accountability, elevated stakeholder satisfaction, and the establishment of a streamlined, effective service delivery framework.

This capacity-building initiative reaffirms INEC's pledge, under the leadership of Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, to continuously bolster its internal processes, thereby consolidating Nigeria's democracy and ensuring that every vote continues to count through excellence in service.
