500 Level Law student of Novena University, Ogume, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, Comrade Eyitemi Jemide, will lead Itsekiri students in tertiary institutions for the next one year, following her emergence as President of National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, in an election authorized and monitored by the Chairman, Board of Trustees/National Adviser of NAIS, Sir Amorighoye Sunny Mene.
Our Principal Correspondent, reports that the election originally billed for Saturday January 17, was shifted to Sunday January 18, following heated arguments that trailed the initial disqualification of two presidential aspirants; Eseyuwa Ofeoritse Gift and Tom Debi.
They were initially disqualified by the Amorighoye Bemigho Japheth led electoral Committee, which has Botosan Roli Faith, Alero Ekpekiefe and Akponenayone Joy Omawumi, as members.
This Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper, can report that it was after Sir A.S Mene intervened, cleared the presidential aspirants initially disqualified, that the election held at NAIS National Secretariat in Warri, Sunday January 18, even as one of the aspirants, Tom Debi, was absent during the eventual poll.

Jemide, garnered 36 votes to defeat her closest rival, Ometan Ortsegbubemi Joseph, who polled 12 votes, leaving Eseyuwa Ofeoritse Gift with one vote, out of a total 49 votes cast during the exercise.
Chairman of the 2026 NAIS Electoral Committee, Amorighoye Bemigho Japheth, congratulated the newly elected President and appreciated the delegates for their patience during and after the process.

Apart from Office of the President that was contested for, the remaining nine executive positions of the Itsekiri students’ body, were returned unopposed.
