Impersonators Planning To Lay Siege On DESOPADEC Office, Contractors' 'Forum Reveals

Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Indigenous Contractors Forum has said that those planning to lay siege at the interventionist agency under the guise of Urhobo contractors are fake and impersonators.

The forum maintained those behind the move were not known to the DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors Forum describing them as hoodlums trying to create chaos and threaten the peace of the state.

The forum, in a statement issued today and signed by its Chairman, Engr. Ogie Samson Oritsebemigho, was reacting to a report in Urhobo Today titled "Panic at DESOPADEC As Aggrieved Contractors Plan to Lay Siege at Premises Over Non Payment".

The forum stated that the brains behind the publication were unknown to the body.

"Those parading themselves as Urhobo contractors are unknown to DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors Forum. They are fraudsters trying to cause unrest and the security agents should investigate them.

"So far we have a good working relationship with the management of DESOPADEC and therefore no need to disrupt the operations of the commission. Those behind that publication are not known to us", the forum said.

The forum urged the management of DESOPADEC to take all lawful means to deal with those planning the siege on their secretariat over alleged non payment noting that they are fake contractors.

"We want the security agencies to investigate those behind the publication, arrest and prosecute them for impersonation. They are unknown to us", it added.

The Indigenous Contractors Forum thereby pledged its unalloyed support and cooperation with the management of DESOPADEC adding "those planning to lay siege are not contractors but impersonators".

"We on behalf of ourselves and representatives of DESOPADEC indigenous contractors write to notify the general public and DESOPADEC of a planned protest by some person's parading themselves as contractors from the urhobo ethnic nationality.

"We are using this medium to notify the DESOPADEC board that these person's are NOT contractors and as such we are NOT a party to it. We want to reassure the board of our continuous support to this regard.
