Warri South: Legislative Arm passes 2026 appropriation, halts erection of billboards in Warri

Warri South Legislative Arm, on Thursday February 12, passed the 2026 appropriation of Warri South Local Government Council, urging the Executive Arm of the local government to expedite action on its revenue generation drive.

The House, after receiving report of its Finance and Appropriation Committee, went into Committee of the Whole, following a motion moved by Hon. Tuoyo Ebigbeyi and Seconded by Hon. Temile Solomon.

 

 

Fresh Angle International, can report that after extensive deliberation of the House Committee of the Whole, led by Leader of the Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Joy Ejumudo, the House passed the 2026 appropriation of Eighteen billion, three hundred and sixty-eight million, eight hundred and seventy-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-six naira, eighty-four kobo (N18,368,874,566.84).

 The estimate passed by the House, which is expected to be transmitted to the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac for his assent, is one billion, three hundred and sixty million (N1,360,000,000.00) higher than the seventeen billion, eight million, eight hundred and seventy-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-six naira, eighty-four kobo (N17,008,874,566.84K) draft estimate, christened “Budget of Renewed Hope for More Agenda” initially presented to the House by Comr. Agbateyiniro.

Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Solomon Temile, while presenting the report of the Committee during plenary, explained that the budget raise, was to accommodate construction of 50 lock-up stores at Edjeba Market, Lock-up stores at Warri Central Garage, Karen Street Road Construction, Public Transportation Buses, Cold Chain at Primary Health Centres, Daudu Police Station Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation of HOD Works Lodge.

Meanwhile, the Warri South Legislative Arm, has passed a resolution, halting the erection of billboards in Warri South Local Government Area, calling on the relevant organs/agencies to comply accordingly.

The resolution, was consequent upon a matter of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Jolomi Ojighoro. He notified the House of what he described as the increasing number of unsafe billboards in Warri South Local Government Area.

Motion to halt the erection of billboards, was moved by the Majority Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Tuoyo Ebigbeyi and it was Seconded by the Deputy Leader, Hon. Emmanuel Egbe.

The 8th Assembly of Warri South Local Government Council Legislative Arm, subsequently passed a unanimous resolution, halting the erection of bill boards in Warri South Local Government Area, due to the unsafe and unprofessional ways by which the billboard owners, are erecting the billboards.
